Levels 4 and 5 Advanced Swimming
This class takes place at Westwood Recreation Center in Jackson
in an outdoor, unheated, 25 yard swimming pool with depth of water up to 12 feet. Please consider the size of the pool and depth of the water before
enrolling your child in this class. Before enrolling, each swimmer in the
class must be able to independently swim in water over their head and
independently swim 25 yards without rest while being safely supervised.
If you need help deciding if this is the best fit for your child, please call
Chris at 731-431-0528. This Advanced Swimming class is designed to teach your child proper swimming technique for freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly. Additionally, treading water and survival floating are emphasized. This class will improve your child's proper swimming technique, endurance, and length of swimming. This class also emphasizes water safety. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Prior skill in swimming IS REQUIRED to enroll in this class. Please carefully read the following before enrolling. Children should NOT enroll in this course if they are unable to meet the prerequisites. Before enrolling in this course, your child should already be able to perform an endurance swim of freestyle for 30 yards, swimming on their back for 15 yards, survival floating for 60 seconds, and treading water for 30 seconds. Students who passed Good Beginner with us have demonstrated these abilities and are ready. If you have not seen your child perform these skills, please do not assume that they are capable because it will be difficult for them to progress in this class without appropriate skill prior to beginning. If you need help in deciding if this class is appropriate for your child, please call Chris at 731-431-0528 to gain assistance in deciding.
